In our small town, Memorial Weekend means the carnival is in town. For as long as I can remember the carnival rolls into town the week prior and packs up on Memorial Day. We aren't carnival people. Hubs was born and raised in Orlando-- our little carnival is not that impressive to him. The idea of traveling rides and carnies really does nothing for me, and if given the option we would steer clear of the event. However, one soccer practice and the word is out, "Mom, the carnival is in town". I am sure the two oldest had heard prior to then, but that was the first they had mentioned to me. E knows it is every year during his birthday, so there isn't any secret to it anymore anyhow. Alas, we took our three, plus one more, too the carnival for the hour of free rides on Saturday morning. I love the idea that I don't have to pay to do something I would rather not do, plus the lines are short because it is early in the day. The kids got to ride everything they wanted and no harm was done. Happy birthday E!
